Within a month, the number of sudden death in sleep in Singapore has increase to 12 cases. Among these cases, 11 of them are male and one sudden death victim is a female. These people are from all walk of life. Among them are taxi driver, jewellery designer, doctor, businessman, engineer and even student. Their age range from 16 to 69 years old.
Though there are difference in age, there is a common point in all these cases. That is, all the victims looked healthy and normal before the mishap occurred. Each leaving behind their family in shock and distraught when they were found dead in their sleep.
I was sadden by some of the stories covered by the media. Here is the abstract from The New Paper on 7th December:
With his wife seven months pregnant and baby girl on the way, Mr Mavin had a lot to look forward to. But Marvin will never have the chance to see or touch his soon-to-be-born first child.
He died suddenly in his sleep, at the age of 29, early yesterday morning. His family is still reeling from shock of his sudden death.
Said his sister Miss Kwek: " It was just too sudden. On Tuesday night, his wife was still talking to him but hours later, he was gone. It's just too much for her to bear."
I was sadden by Marvin's death mainly because he is too young to die. He has just started a family and is looking forward for his first child. Death has ruthlessly taken his life leaving him no chance to enjoy a father's life. It may have come so sudden that he himself is unaware of it. But to his family, it is a difficult piece of news to accept. I am not sure how is Madam Koh right now? But i do hope she is strong enough to accept it and keep herself strong and healthy. Bring up her child and move on with life.
Sometime I just wonder - Should the sign of death be shown before one is about to die or should death be as sudden as the above story?
